Create the credential in Mailgun with the minimum read scope, paste it into devguard, and the connection is live. The integration page in the product spells out the exact permissions.
Read-only checks on Mailgun verify your sending domains are active and that SPF and DKIM records actually validate, the email posture that phishing controls depend on.

Connectivity check: confirms the Basic key authenticates against the chosen region host and lists domains (HTTP 200). A non-200 (e.g. 401) indicates an invalid key or the wrong region host.

Fails if any Mailgun sending domain is not in the `active` state (e.g. unverified or disabled). Also fails if no domains are returned, to avoid a vacuous pass. Reads up to 1000 domains in one page (the endpoint uses numeric skip/limit paging, which the check DSL cannot express).
